Synopsis: This is a fic lightly influenced by Shakesphere's Romeo and Juliet. Although the story itself takes place in modern times, you can see some parallelism from the actual play to my own fic. But yeah anyways, it's this whole theme of KATTUN versus NEWS rivalry thingie going on, blah blah blah. Why don't you give it a shot? :)

Chapter 5
Kamenashi Kazuya smiled happily by the school window during lunch time as he admired the clearness of the sky and the greenness of the grass. He gave out soft happy sighs as his mind wandered elsewhere, off into a dreamland of paradise. He was in a very good mood.
“What’s up with him?” Koki asked Nakamaru, as the other boys sat close by, taking note of Kame’s strange abrupt change in mood and behavior.
“Seems like he’s in a good mood,” Nakamaru replied as he kept his eyes on his friend. “Makes me curious what actually happened the night before…”
“I’m surprised he came back in one piece,” Ueda took a sip from his tea. “Kame is sure mysterious, isn’t he?”
“Eh?” Junno stepped into the small circle as he began to eat his well prepared lunch. “I think Ueda is even more mysterious.”
Both Koki and Nakamaru nodded in agreement.
“What? You guys aren’t supposed to agree to that!” Ueda smacked both of their heads, only for Jin to come by with a slightly sulky expression on his face.
“Yo, Jin!” Koki greeted, only for Jin’s eyes to land elsewhere.
“What’s with him?” Jin scowled slightly at Kame’s happy facial expressions.
“I think it’s called being happy?” Junno smiled as he took a sip from his own tea. “Haha, special happiness.”
“Why’s he so happy?” Jin asked rather apathetically.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” Nakamaru suggested as Jin frowned slightly.
“Whatever,” Jin turned to side as he began to eat his own lunch. However his mind could not focus on his stomach as he turned his body towards Kame. “Hey, Kame!”
Kame snapped out of daze as he turned to Jin. “Hm?”
“What are you doing?”
“The weather’s nice today, isn’t it Jin?” Kame smiled.
Jin abruptly stood up from his seat as he left the classroom. He slammed the classroom door angrily behind him. Kame did not pay any attention to him.
“Jesus, what’s with him?” Koki stared at the door Jin exited through.
“You know Jin…he’s always like that…” Junno mumbled as he continued to smile. “He’ll be fine…”
“Yeah, just give him two hours; he’ll be back to normal…” Ueda nodded.
“Well, since that’s the case,” Koki grinned as he grabbed his chopsticks. “I’ll eat his lunch!”
“Oh! Good idea!” Nakamaru grabbed his chopsticks as well. “Jin always brings the best lunches! Just because his maids think he’s cute they always add in extra things!”
“I’m cute too!” Koki exclaimed.
“Your lunch looks like shit,” Junno smiled widely.
Both Nakamaru and Ueda nodded in agreement.
“Are you guys really my friends?” Koki exclaimed.
The room went silent.
Koki threw his chopsticks to the side as he abruptly left the room, slamming the door shut behind him.
“What a drama queen,” Junno continued to eat his lunch. “He’s such a copycat.”
“I bet he has his ear on the door, trying to listen on into our conversations and see if we feel sorry for him…” Ueda smiled slightly at the thought.
“Well, since he’s gone, it’s MORE food for me!” Nakamaru grinned.
The door suddenly slammed open as Koki stormed back into the room. “You guys are so mean! AND DON’T EAT THAT ALL WITHOUT ME!”
“I told you so.” Ueda stuck out his tongue playfully. “I knew he was behind that door.”
“Never doubted you for a second,” Junno grinned.
Akanishi Jin casually walked off the Akai High School campus. It didn’t really matter to him if he got caught by the teachers or not. After all, he was Akanishi Jin, the leader of Akai High; even the teachers all respected him.
His whole body felt hot with anger yet he wasn’t quite sure why he was angry. He felt the blood rush to his head as his hands clenched into a tight fist, yet he could not finger what actually was the cause of his sudden anger. Jin walked down the isolated streets of his town. It had been awhile since Jin walked out alone on the streets. He was usually driven around in cars by his personal driver and never really had any opportunities to actually walk from one place to another. However Jin was not the only one walking around…
Tegoshi Yuya had finally interviewed the last person on his list. He had an assignment from his journalism class to write a report on the more common middle class citizens of his town as he had to write a comparison from their lifestyles to his own. He had interviewed over ten people, collecting valuable information that proved quite useful for his research. Tegoshi hugged on to the notes tightly as he began to venture his way back to Aoi High school, only to stop shortly in his tracks.
Jin stopped in front of an arch bridge that hung over a small river. He lifted up his head, only to see Tegoshi at the other end of the bridge. The sight of Tegoshi caused Jin to stir up and made him even angrier. He stormed towards the smaller boy as the smaller boy could not move. A part of Tegoshi wanted to run away, yet his pride told him to stay and face the consequences like a man.
“I’m glad you’re here Tegoshi,” Jin greeted. “Because I’m fucking pissed off right now.”
“Well, I’m not glad you’re here,” Tegoshi glared at the other boy. “…and I’m busy so can you get out of my wa-”
Jin landed a punch on Tegoshi’s face, sending the boy to slide backwards on his butt as his research papers scattered on the ground. Tegoshi looked up at Jin with a fierce glare in his eyes as he began to feel pain build up upon his cheek. Tegoshi hated meaningless fights and he hated the fact that he unfortunately had to be stopped by Jin of all people…he knew that Jin was quite known for taking actions rather than words…he kind of wished that it was rather Ueda he had encountered with instead of Jin…if it was Ueda he would have been be able to take him on…or so Tegoshi thinks…
Tegoshi decided not to fight back as he began to collect his scattered research papers, only for Jin to step on them.
“Get off.”
“No.” Jin firmly placed his shoe on the papers.
“I’m telling you to get your dirty feet off my papers,” Tegoshi stared straight into Jin’s eyes, as it made even Jin feel slightly uncomfortable.
“No.”
“…” Tegoshi glared at the other boy. “Then I guess I’ll have to move it.”
“On second thought, I’ll get off your papers…” Jin took his shoe off as he reached down for the papers himself. “…and let you go on a nice swim.”
Jin grabbed the papers as he threw them over the bridge. The papers slowly landed in the steady river water, becoming drenched as it slowly absorbed the water. Tegoshi’s eyes expanded in shock and hatred for the other. He could not believe what had just happened.
“Hm, I feel a bit better now,” Jin smiled at the glaring boy. “The weather is nice today…isn’t it?”
Jin lightly turned around as he walked off, leaving the poor Aoi High boy fuming in anger.
Koyama Keiichirou leaned on his desk as he peered over, looking into Kato Shigeaki’s lunch box. “Oh, that looks good.”
“You have your own lunch!” Shige scowled slightly as he began to get a bit protective over his lunch.
“Hm, well, if I recall last time, you ate all of your lunch and then…” Koyama quickly grabbed a piece of juicy meat that shined out in Shige’s lunch box with his chopsticks. “YOU ATE ALL OF MINE!”
“Koyama…” Shige stared at Koyama blankly. “That was Massu.”
Koyama quickly stuffed the meat into his mouth, giving Shige a cheesy smile as he abruptly turned his back upon Shige, facing both Yamapi and Kusano. “Hey…guys…heh…heh…”
“Yo!” Yamapi grinned as he finished his own lunch.
“Where’s Tegoshi?” Kusano asked as he placed his lunch box aside. “He still needs to lend me his notes…”
“Good question,” Koyama frowned slightly as he turned back to Shige once more. “Do you know?”
“He’s out doing interviews for his journalism class…” Shige replied. “He was supposed to come back before lunch though…”
“WHAT IF HE WAS KIDNAPPED?”
Heads turned to the classroom door, only to see Nishikido Ryo storming in. Both Uchi and Massu entered from behind, bringing along lunches of their own.
“Really, now…” Koyama smiled uneasily. “Who would want to kidnap him?”
“…” Ryo glared at Koyama.
“Um, I guess except for you maybe…” Koyama mumbled. “Pedophile…”
“I bet one of them damn Akai guys kidnapped Tegoshi because they couldn’t resist his cuteness and they probably dragged him back to their own damn school and are probably forcing Tegoshi to…Tegoshi to…” Ryo shook his head. “NO! NO! NO!”
Uchi smacked Ryo’s head. “Just what the hell are you thinking about?”
“I don’t think I want to know.” Yamapi smiled as he drank his tea.
“Stop thinking so negatively!” Massu remarked as he began to stuff his face. He couldn’t help but feel irritated whenever Ryo became so possessive over his best friend. “I bet Tegoshi is behind that door right this moment.”
Just as Massu predicted, the door opened at that moment…revealing a rather wet Tegoshi…
“Ah…I’m late…” Tegoshi greeted his friends as his whole body was drenched in water.
“Te-Tegoshi…” Yamapi stood up from his seat as the other guys gaped at the boy. “What happened?”
“TEGOSHI!” Ryo ran over and grabbed the younger boy. “WHO DID THIS TO YOU?”
“I accidentally dropped my stuff in the river…and went in to pick it up.”
Tegoshi smiled as he walked up to Yamapi. He then took a small breath as he resumed smiling, only to prevent the unwanted tears that were about to come out.
“Y-Yamashita-san…” Tegoshi’s voice stuttered slightly. “I…I…I want to become stronger.”
That one statement explained everything. Yamapi responded with a nod. “Become stronger.”
“Yes sir.”
Kusano frowned slightly. He did not understand at all. To become stronger? What exactly did Tegoshi mean by that? And why did Tegoshi come back to school all wet? What exactly happened to him?
“I don’t understand this at all!” Kusano frowned slightly as the other boys look at him, surprised.
“There’s nothing for you to understand.” Yamapi stated.
“Tegoshi, why are you wet?” Kusano looked at the other boy.
“I should get back to class…” Tegoshi smiled. “I’ll see you guys later.”
Tegoshi left the room, causing Kusano to feel a bit queasy.
“Hey! Don’t you guys care?” Kusano frowned. “Don’t you wonder why he’s wet? And haven’t you noticed the bruise on his cheek?”
“We do care…” Massu’s voice first piped up. “We care a lot…”
“Tegoshi’s the only guy in our group who has never actually been in a fist fight…” Koyama commented. “But now that I think about it…Tegoshi never really tried…”
Ryo immediately took a stand as he pointed at himself. “Hm, well, then, I guess it’s time for me to take Tegoshi under my wing and teach him how to-”
“Uchi.” Yamapi interrupted Ryo as he turned towards Uchi. “I’m counting on you.”
“Wha-ME?” Uchi’s eyes widened slightly.
“I’m offended.” Ryo crossed his arms.
“And take Shige with you.” Yamapi instructed as he looked towards Shige’s direction. “Because Shige has lots to work on.”
“Ah…” Shige bit his lips slightly. He was rather horrible at fighting.
“Why Uchi?” Ryo complained as he stood in front of Yamapi. “Why can’t I teach Tegoshi? I mean Uchi can teach Shige and I-”
Yamapi’s stern expression turned into a soft smile.
“Ryo-chan is too short.”
“You don’t even make sense!”
“I know, I don’t, huh?” Yamapi continued to smile. “But I have my reasons. It’s fun to tease Ryo-chan.”
Ryo crossed his arms rather grumpily.
“Oh yeah!” Yamapi clapped his hands together. “We have a baseball game coming up soon, huh?”
“You’re right,” Uchi nodded. “Against Akai High…”
“They beat us last time, didn’t they?” Koyama frowned slightly.
“But this time, we’ll return the favor.” Yamapi smiled.
Kamenashi Kazuya continued to stare in daze as the ball flew by his bat. His feet remained glued onto the baseball mound as body stayed still, unmoved, causing his teammates to feel a bit…well…worried.
“KAME!” Koki poked his friend in the knees, being in the catcher position from behind.
“Pay attention!” Junno called out from the pitcher’s mound.
“Oh, right, right,” Kame snapped out of thought as the next baseball came flying at him. Kame swung the bat with flying colors, sending the ball out of the field.
“YAY!” Koki cheered as Kame watched the ball fly away, not moving. “Um, I think you should start running now…”
“Oh yeah! Right!” Kame shook his head as he dropped his bat, jogging his way around the bases.
Nakamaru’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he watched the scene before him. “I’m beginning to worry.”
“I know what you mean,” Ueda bit his lips slightly. “We can’t afford to lose him.”
“The game is next week…” Nakamaru frowned. “Kame’s our only hope in winning…if his mind isn’t focused we’ll be screwed. We can’t let Aoi High take our baseball title away from us…”
“I wonder who the person is that is distracting Kame like this…” Ueda pondered slightly, only for Nakamaru to react.
“AH!” Nakamaru clapped his hands together. “PIKACHU!”
“Huh?” Ueda looked at his friend strangely.
“I remember the night of the party, the guy Kame was with on the balcony…Pikachu…could it possibly be him?”
“Kusano Hironori?”
Nakamaru and Ueda turned around, only to see Jin appear behind them.
“Not angry anymore Jin?” Nakamaru asked.
“I was never angry.” Jin frowned slightly.
“Yeah, sure, whatever.”
“…”
“So, Kusano was his name, huh?” Ueda tried to break the dark atmosphere.
“Kame’s in love with Kusano?” Jin frowned.
“I think so.” Nakamaru confirmed.
“…” Jin remained silent.
